A swan used to stay near a farmer's field. Once while roaming, the farmer went near the swan's nest. There he saw an egg. That egg was not an ordinary one but a golden egg. Seeing this the farmer was overjoyed.
Now every time the farmer went near the swan's nest he found a golden egg there. The farmer used to bring it home. Soon he had plenty of golden eggs. He sold them and got good amount of money. Soon he became rich. He built a new house and started living lavishly.
But as the farmer got richer he became more and more greedy. He thought, "This swan gives me one golden egg everyday. If I kill her, then I can get many golden eggs altogether. Then nobody will be rich like me in the neighborhood."
The farmer did the same. He killed the swan. But he could not get a single golden egg. Instead the swan who gave golden eggs was out of reach forever.
Moral:- Too much greed makes a man blind.
